Use of competencies of nurses in practice

Abstract

Objective: To determine what importance attributed nurses competencies for the implementation of performance in the range of nursing practice provided by nurses alone, as indicate by doctor and in cooperation with a doctor.

Methodology and Sample: The collection of empirical data, we used a questionnaire of our own design, which consisted of 64 closed items. Research sample consisted of 132 nurses working at UNM in Martin, in a hospital in Levice and Pauestera Louis University Hospital in Kosice. For a comprehensive evaluation of all questionnaires was used descriptive statistics - mean, SD, absolute and relative frequencies (%). Comparison group respondents ANOVA was used to test the significance level of 0,05. To identify mutual correlations were tested correlation coefficients (Pearson's correlation coefficient) significance level is 0,05.

Results: Of the interventions within the scope of nursing practice for nurses considered most important for the field of competence of the management and practice of nursing documentation. In the research we confirmed the positive relationship between the perception of the importance and extent of application of competencies in practice (r = 00,39; P = 0,001). Positive significant relationship, we also confirmed the perception of the importance and level of implementation of interventions carried out on the basis of indications nurse practitioner (r = 0,73; P = 0,000) and the activities carried out and does not competence (r = 0,82; P = 0,000).

Conclusions: A higher degree of perception of the importance of the activities performed by the nurse within the scope of nursing practice is associated with more frequent application in practice. Nurses utmost importance attributed to activities carried out separately, but mostly applies interventions that are carried out as indicated by the doctor.
