Editorial

Dear Readers,

I am honoured to address the reader and follow up the tradition of journal editorials. Coincidentally, my scientific and expert considerations are deeply affected by the completion of the workshop in Adelaide led by the experts of Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) under the auspices of director prof. Alan Pearson. The attentive reader has noticed that this institution was quoted by the fellow associate professor Vörösová in previous editorial. It is a workplace dealing with the issue of Evidence Based Practice in non-medical healthcare branches.

The fact is that quantum of expert papers with primary research studies' results published raise the problem, how to grasp these results effectively in clinical practice. How to find, in such a huge amount of primary research done, the “right” evidence leading to provision of efficient and best practice for the patient? What innovative is, that nowadays the experts do not speak only of evidence-based medicine, but the practice - or even better - the health care based on evidence (Evidence Based Health Care – EBHC). Well and such a concept of creating systematic reviews with meta-analysis the Joanna Briggs Institute deals in. I would qualify to be very advanced and progressive that JBI focuses on thorough systematic reviews of quantitative and qualitative research and recommends performing of so called Mixed Systematic Review. JBI welcomes the establishment and development of affiliated centers in the world, which it works closely with and leads them professionally.

In conclusion, let me share the joy of the fact that the workshop was attended by so many colleagues working in practice. They have realized they cannot create clinical guidelines, or supportable and safe care practices, with no systematic processing of research findings published so far.

Wishing you the most joy,

doc. PhDr. Jana Marečková, Ph.D.
